    Membership updates:

The Union and the Time Reporting clerks have been notified that as of today their job functions and responsibilities are changing.

First, today all supervisors in the Sales and Service work groups will be responsible for payroll.  Time reporting will not be advising you of corrections or administration of inputting time and other benefits.  I advise you to take the time necessary during the course of your day to make sure you get the hours and benefits you are entitled to.  Management hasn’t been trained, it is likely if you don’t do what’s necessary you won’t get paid correctly.

Second, the function of administering the overtime and lowlist is going to be taken over by management in a couple of weeks.  This is a direct violation of our CBA, which states that overtime low lists will be maintained by CWA bargaining unit members.  Managers in capacity management are pushing for these system changes.

We will taking the necessary steps to protect our work.

The Union is participating in the annual Labor Day parade; a Union activity day has been called for the day. The starting location will be announced later in the week, historically it has been on Meigs St. and we meet between 10am and 11am, the parade is usually over by 1pm.  We have discounted Seabreeze tickets available for those who march along with their families.  They come with an unlimited lunch from 1-4pm and rides all day.  We will be wearing Red for the parade.

I’m saddened to announce the passing of retirees James Walker and Warren Kime.  Jim Walker passed away at the age of 56 on August 17th.  He was a Network-Switch tech at the time of his retirement with 35 years of service.  Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy funeral home in Canandaigua.

Warren passed away on August 24th at the age of 87.  He was a Lineman at the time of his retirement in 1993 with 26 years of service.

On behalf of the Union I extend our condolences to Jim and Warren’s family and friend.

This is your President John Pusloskie, thanking you for calling your Union tape, the Place where we’re Union and proud of it.
