In Memoriam — Retiree Richard “Dick” Garey

We are saddened to announce the passing of retiree Richard “Dick” Garey, who passed away on August 3rd at the age of 90.

Dick retired from Frontier on December 31, 1996, as a Switch Tech after more than 30 years of service.

On behalf of the Union, we extend our sincere condolences to Dick’s family and friends during this difficult time.

General Membership Meeting & Officer Nominations

The Union will soon be posting information regarding the time and location of our General Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 1st, 2026.

An important item on the agenda will be nominations for Local Officer positions, including:

• President

• Vice President

• Secretary

• Treasurer

Any member in good standing may be nominated.

Officer positions are for three-year terms, beginning January 1st, 2027.

Please watch for additional information regarding the meeting time and location.

Labor Day Parade — Monday, September 7th

A reminder that CWA Local 1170 will be participating in the City of Rochester Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 7th.

Angela has sent out information with the parade times and activities. We encourage all of our members to come out and march with us.

The Union has accomplished a great deal for our members this year. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our right to collectively bargain.

Together, we have made major wage and benefit gains that will have a positive impact on the future of our members and their families.

We are asking you to commit just a couple of hours of your time this Labor Day to stand together, march together, and show your Union Pride!
