Tape Release 7/17/26
Membership Updates:
We have been advised by Frontier that a new hire in Sales and Service started this Monday, three new hires are set to start on Monday July 27th and four more are in process for a total of eight. The Agreement with Verizon in exchange for support of the sale called for the hiring of twenty full time regular employees and the elimination of the Company’s use of fiber to the home contractors.
The Flavin Memorial Scholarship Committee met this week and decided to award each applicant a scholarship. In total fourteen scholarships were granted. A listing of the recipients has been posted to the Union’s website.
Every member who works outside should be aware this summer of the Air Quality and heat index numbers. We need to take responsibility for our own safety and it boils down to being aware if the air quality and heat is affecting you, you have the right to do what is necessary for self-protection, which means rest, hydrate, go to the Doctor if necessary.
Rumors are out there that Verizon is going to do a reorganization of its field operations in NYS. The Local hasn’t had any discussions with Verizon or Frontier on the matter. As soon as we have information you’ll be notified. And Lastly, the Local reached a new three year agreement for our members at the Genesee Coop Federal Credit Union that improves wages, benefits including health care, retirement, a signing bonus of a $1,000.00 and transition of weekly vacation accruals to getting vacation loaded up front on January 1st. It was a substantially improved agreement which the members will vote on next Tuesday. These members work at the Gregory St. branch in the South Wedge district.
Have a great weekend everyone! This is your President John Pusloskie, thanking you for calling your Union tape.
