Tape Release 7/11/25 – Passing of Dennis Thomas & Important Updates

    Membership and Retiree Updates:

I’m saddened to announce the passing of Frontier retiree Dennis Thomas. Denny passed away this past Wednesday, July 9th after a brief illness.  Denny joined the Union in April of 1965 and retired in May of 2022, with 57 years of service, making him one of the longest working members in this Local’s history. In fact I don’t know of anyone who had a longer career.  He was a Network Switch Tech at the time of his retirement.  Denny was an active member in his Union serving in the capacity as a Steward, Executive Board Member and Treasurer.  He will be remembered as a kind-hearted caring individual but very principled and dedicated as to what this Union has meant to everyone.  On behalf of the Union I want to extend our condolences to Denny’s family and friends.  Friends may celebrate Dennis at a memorial mass at 9:30am, Monday July 14th at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, NY 14615.

Also, an update on our Dental Plan with Health Economics.  After a thorough bid and review process, we’ve made the decision to go with Excellus as the new administrator beginning in August.  Further details will follow, but everyone will be getting a letter with a temporary ID card.  The plan benefits will be the same but we should have an enhanced network of Dentists who’ll agree to be covered, and better customer service.  Angela and I will continue to work through anyone with claims issues or questions.

Bargaining with Frontier is scheduled for Next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and a board meeting will be held on Wednesday to provide updates.

Angela Hill, our loved and dedicated office manager has celebrated 25 years of service to this Local and its members.  Please make sure to congratulate her on this milestone.

This is your President John Pusloskie, thanking you for calling your Union tape.
