    Membership updates:

This week the jury begins deliberations in the trial and charges against police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd.  The outcome of the Jury’s decision has the potential for our members who work in proximity to Rochester City Hall and many more who work in public places and our customers homes to face protesting crowds and other forms of public disturbances.  Frontier Safety department has emailed employees a security alert.  Please take the time to read it, you never know what circumstances may come up in the course of your work day.  Last June our security door on our elevator was breached with looters entering our office space, the CVS was breached and looted. It is impossible to predict what situations may arise but necessary that you take the time to avoid any areas that pose a potential risk.  If there are organized public responses to the verdict along with social unrest, the Company will be taking the following actions:

Contacting the Monroe County Sheriff’s office for extra protection to help safeguard its employees and buildings.
It won’t be dispatching into highly targeted areas.

Another criminal behavior that is facing our community is carjackings in Monroe and Livingston counties.  These carjackings are gang related almost video game like enactments.  One situation that characterizes these acts is your vehicle being bumped from behind or two drivers trying to box you in.  Do not get out of your car, call 911 immediately and try to find a safe place such as a police station to go to. The police have confirmed that you’ll not be charged with leaving the scene of an accident if you make the decision to get out of the situation, but you must call 911.

Unfortunately these are the times that we live in.  What you can do for yourself is scan your working environment and avoid what you think are possible dangerous and hostile situations.

This is your President John Pusloskie, thanking you for calling your Union tape, and we are CWA STRONG.
