Tape Release 1/15/26
Membership updates:
The Company has changed course on the following policies and may have already implemented such, it is unclear if anyone’s been affected.
First:
The NYSSL policy since the law went into place in 2021 members have been able to designate whether they were taking NYSSL or time off under our contractual paid personal sickness and injury. The Company is looking to implement a policy whereby your first 56 hours beginning January 1st of each year would be protected under NYSSL and coded as such. The Union has raised issue with this and asked them to go back and review their position. We have not had a response back yet and will update the members as such.
Second is the Company’s interpretation of our overtime language:
The Contract states that “ Employees on sickness or injury absence must first work a full tour in order to work overtime.” The Company has now determined if you take any NYSSL or personal injury and illness you can’t work that night or in the case of a Friday, that weekend until you have worked a full tour.
Please contact your steward or Executive Board member if you have been harmed by the Company’s position and if necessary we will be filing grievances on the matter.
And finally, I’m saddened to announce the passing of Retiree Anthony Turrisi. Tony as he was known, passed on January 10th after a long term illness with Cancer. Tony retired in 1996 with 38 years of service. He was an active member in the Union and a founding Officer of the Local’s Retiree Chapter. On behalf of the Union, I extend our sympathies to his wife Frances and family. Calling hours have been scheduled for Friday, January 23rd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The obituary has been posted. https://bartolomeo.com/obits/anthony-r-turrisi/?t=obituary
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape.
