CWA National Update
February 24, 2020
I am writing to update you on the situation at Frontier and our response.
Last week we held our national town hall call with members and retirees. We had over 1,300 participants on the call and another 1,100 listened to the recording that we posted online. That’s encouraging, but still less than a third of our Frontier membership. It is critical that you mobilize all Frontier members in this fight and obtain their contact information so that they will receive important information and updates.
In addition to the town hall call, our Research Department hosted a call with financial analysts to provide them with our perspective on the company’s operational issues and our vision for rebuilding Frontier. I want to thank Dave Weidlich, President of Local 1298 and retired member Bonnie Boord from Local 9003 for joining the call and providing the analysts a look at the company’s operations from the perspective of the people who really know what’s going on, instead of the usual b.s. they hear from corporate headquarters.
The call has been receiving attention from the press. An article in Bloomberg Law summarized our analysis, quoted Dave and Bonnie, and noted that “The union’s proposal is consistent with Bloomberg Intelligence analysis…”
Unfortunately, Frontier CEO Bernie Han has still not agreed to meet with me for a substantial discussion of the issues facing Frontier and how we can work together to build the company.
We must engage every Frontier member in leaving messages for their supervisor requesting that Bernie Han meet with me. Each local should be reporting participation numbers to their District Vice President.
This fight is a national fight. We cannot win without a national mobilization. Thank you for your commitment to making sure that CWA members are part of the future at Frontier.
In Unity,
Christopher M. Shelton
