Tape Release Monday, September 28th, 2015
The Local’s annual Clambake was held yesterday and was a huge success. We had the best attendance that we’ve had in the last 10 years, a beautiful day and a lot of fun. We were joined by congresswomen Louise Slaughter, candidate for County exec Sandy Frankel along with Bill Carpenter and Tracy Owens management representatives from Frontier and many others. I want to thank the Committee of Patti Roberts, Bruce Cotton, and Mark Semrau along with all the Volunteers, Retirees and Members who helped make it a great day.
On Saturday the first annual Ray Werner Bowling memorial tournament was held with the proceeds going to Ray’s children. Thank you to all who turned out to support Ray’s kids and the crew at Dewey Ave. for their hard work in organizing the event.
Last week you’re Vice President Andy Cimino and myself met with Senior Leadership from Frontier and were very encouraged by the discussions. The Company has identified Rochester as one of the 20 Frontier markets that is viable for a video product. We will be working with the Company to develop a strategy for the deployment of this product. This presents a great opportunity for members of Local 1170.
Last Thursday the members of Unit 6 which consist of Lineman, Splicers, Garage Mechanics, and Building and Power Techs nominated and elected Lineman Milt Dickens as Chairman and Guy Marble as Vice Chairman.
I will be in Albany today and tomorrow along with other members CWA’s political action team working to build a political program that helps strengthen your Union. I will be returning to the office on Wednesday. Please contact a Steward or another Union Officer if you need assistance.
Last week we lost retiree William Humphrey. Bill retired in 1986 as a Desk Technician with 36 years of service. On behalf of the Union I want to extend our sympathies to Bill’s family and friends.
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape, the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
