Tape Release Friday, April 4th, 2014
Today will be the last day of work for Network Switch Tech Dick Wilson out of the Fairport Central Office. Dick began his career in September of 1959 with Rochester Telephone and will retire with just shy of 55 years of service to the Company and his Union. To our knowledge, Dick is the longest continuous member of this Local in our history. So to speak, he has seen it all through the good times and bad. On behalf of the Local, it is with great respect and admiration that we wish him well in his retirement.
On Tuesday Unit 2 Desk Tech nominations took place for unit officers. As a result of those nominations, George Madison and Carl Kinney will be the new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Unit.
This week legislation was rejected as part of the state budget whereby further deregulation of the telecommunications industry would’ve been allowed. That’s a big victory for all of us as we’ve seen the negative impact of deregulation, i.e. fewer jobs and declining service quality.
United Way Campaign Update: So far with a little more than 50% of the members solicited, eighty three thousand dollars have been pledged towards this year’s campaign. This is truly remarkable and a testament to your commitment to this community. Thank you for your generosity.
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
