The Union has received notification that the arbitrator has ruled in the Union’s favor in regards to the Unilateral change to the Tuition Reimbursement Program. The following was determined:
The Company violated the National Relations act by unilaterally changing the program.
The Company is directed to reinstate the program that was in place prior to 2012.
The Company has been directed to reimburse Bruno Santoleri and any other represented employees who were affected by this change.
Any members who have taken classes since 2012 are directed to contact the Union Hall to notify us that you should be included in the settlement.
Your Local will be marching in this year's Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 2nd. For those members who march, along with any family members, the Union will have discounted Seabreeze tickets for $15 which includes a picnic and all day pass. Please contact the Union office to sign up and get more information.
Also, the Annual Clambake has been scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd from 1-6pm. Tickets can be picked up at the Union office. They will be $40 for members, retirees, and spouses, $55 for all guests. We will have the Dave McGrath band for entertainment. Flyers should be posted in the workplace.
Next week will be the 50th anniversary of the famous march on Washington, DC protesting for Civil, Human, and Workers Rights. Another protest is being organized with an anticipated crowd of tens of thousands of protestors. Any member or retiree interested can call the office and get information. The CWA has two buses leaving from Rochester on Friday, August 23rd at 11pm returning Saturday, August 24th at 6pm. Lunch will be provided. There are only a couple of seats left, so please call quickly to reserve a seat.
Finally, I will be on Vacation Friday August 16th returning August 26th. If you have any issues, please call the office and they will contact another officer or board member to assist you.
