Tape Release Friday, May 31, 2013
Today is the last official day of work for the following members due to the recent force reduction caused by the Company’s decision to eliminate the Switching Control Center here in Rochester. Twelve members in all have been affected and others have been transferred to new jobs. Seven members have volunteered to leave and five are being laid off.
It is an emotional day as the work relationships are ending but hopefully the friendships built up over the years continue on. They have all contributed to building the Company and our Union and on behalf of the Officers and Executive Board, I want to thank each and every one of you for your dedicated service. For those of you who are retiring, I wish you the best of health in your future years. For those of you being laid off, I will provide references and will help you in any way called upon me as you find new work.
Volunteers and their years of service:
George Hoffman 43 years
Bev Jewell 26 years
Tom Vanskiver 24 years

It will remain to be seen the fallout on our customer service and the lack of resources now, for you in the field due to the loss of these members’ expertise, to close this center.
I would encourage you to contact your supervisors and make them aware of the problems that you encounter by the changes that have taken place.
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
