Tape Release Sunday, December 16th, 2012
On this holy day of obligation, I want to express my heartfelt sympathies for the families who lost their cherished children and for a community who lost their respected and trusted educators at the elementary school in Newton, CT this past Friday. It is a tragedy that is difficult to comprehend. I ask everyone to say a prayer for the families who lost loved ones and the community of Newton, that they find the strength to cope with such a tragic loss and begin to heal the broken hearts of grieving parents.
This tragic event comes a month after Hurricane Sandy wrecked unprecedented devastation in New York, New Jersey, and CT. Thousands have lost their homes and all of their possessions, including some of our CWA Brothers and Sisters. CWA District One has set up a fund to help our Brothers and Sisters to begin to rebuild their lives. The Local’s Executive Board made a motion Wednesday to donate $500 to this fund. I have been requested to reach out to our members for donations and support, so this week we will begin a fund drive. Information will be posted on our website on how you can donate.
I know this time of year the requests are many, but I ask you to consider a donation to help our Union Brothers and Sisters who go to work every day, doing the same jobs we do, as well as try to rebuild their lives at the same time. I thank you for your consideration.
I would also like to announce that Megan McGrath, along with her Grandmother, Linda McGrath are collecting Christmas toys, non-perishable pet foods, and other household items to donate to families devastated by the hurricane. Such donations can be dropped off at the Union Hall or Linda can be contacted directly at (585) 594-4643 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
