Tape Release Wednesday, November 7, 2012
ELECTIONS - The results of yesterday’s elections at the Local, State, and Federal level were victories for the Labor Movement and CWA considering the Anti Union agenda of many candidates running for office. These victories were won with the support of the National Union, and the many volunteers from this Local who spent Saturdays knocking on doors participating in Labor walks and phone banks to get the vote out. Local winners Louise Slaughter for Congress and Ted O’Brien for State Senate have publicly acknowledged Local 1170 for the great work that we did for them.
VOLUNTEERS - I want to thank the Volunteers from this Local who put forth the effort to make this happen. If you participated you know who you are. Thank you for dedicating your time! The Union appreciates your contributions to help further and protect the Labor Movement.
RETIREES - Open enrollment for retirees is from November 1st to the 21st. Packages are hitting the homes right now. Different from prior years, there are no enrollment forms to change your health insurance plan. You must read the directions carefully and request a form from Milliman if you wish to do so. The packages are confusing in there are many different price sheets. Please call if you have any questions. On Friday, Frontier will be holding informational meetings with reps from MVP and Excellus to answer your questions. This is always a great opportunity to learn more about your benefits. One change for pre 65 retirees is the replacement of the Blue Point 2 Choice with the Blue Point 3 Choice Plan. The Blue Point Plan is a popular plan and in order to keep the monthly premium increase from rising 18%, the Company worked with Excellus to offer the new plan. The rates are still rising just not as much.
SEVERANCE PAY - For those members who are waiting on your severance payments, the severance is expected to be paid next week. Yes, I know the Company told some of you different but they didn’t have all the information in from the members to cut them this week.
Tomorrow is a Wear Red Day.
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape, the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
