Tape Release Monday, November 5, 2012
Tomorrow is the most important day in this country for the next 4 years. I urge everyone to get out to vote. America has an opportunity to continue to move forward with a progressive agenda to help out the middle class or take additional steps back with more tax cuts for the rich, more outsourcing, and the stripping of collective bargaining rights. If there is a retiree that needs assistance getting to a polling place, please call into the office and we will see what we can do to help. While no one politician can cure all our ills, we need to support the ones who support policies that protect middle class rights. We have made many phone calls and sent out many letters so by now everyone should know whom we’re supporting. Locally we support the following candidates and recommend that you vote for the them:
Louise Slaughter 25th District
Kathy Hochul 27th District
Dan Maffei 24th District
For State Senate:
Based on Mitt Romney’s position against collective bargaining rights for Labor Unions and the fact that he supports a federal law making every state a right to work state. We recommend that you support Barack Obama who has restored balance to the National Labor Relations Board and has supported teachers, firefighters, police officers, and construction workers by proposing funds to keep Americans working along with monies for Rural Broadband expansion.
The Union has filed a grievance in regards to the Company’s initiative to move as many new HSI orders from full installs to self-installs. In 2007 negotiations with Frontier we negotiated language that 80% of the installations would be full installs in order to provide premier customer service and limit the customer repeaters. In 2011 we negotiated to increase that percentage to its current level of 85% and 90% in 2013. The company has now changed course contrary to the Union contract.
The Union has received notifications that Sales and Service Techs are being called in by their bosses in regards to their repeater rates. I would not take these meetings lightly. If you are called into such a meeting, request a Union Steward and have your Steward file a grievance on your behalf. More than likely the company is placing a coaching log in your file. I would also advise technicians to keep a daybook to refute the company numbers. In many cases you are being held accountable for situations out of your control.
Arbitrations are moving forward in regards to the unjust discipline of Tom Tartaglia and diminishment of benefits under the tuition reimbursement plan.
Health Care Update:
Open enrollment for active employees begins today and runs through November 16th. Please double check your selections and print out the confirmation statement.
This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union Tape. The place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
