Tape Release 10/17/12
Posted On: Oct 17, 2012

Tape Release Wednesday, October 17, 2012 -

The bumping process continues to be a work in progress as the facility coordinators determine which clerical jobs they will move into.  I know this is a very anxious and difficult time for those junior employees in classifications targeted for surplus.  An important change to note: in the 2011 contract, more weighting was given to seniority, as those who are bumping need only have the minimum requirements and demonstrate that they can satisfactorily perform the job in 25 work days.  This is a change from the prior contract where one needed to adequately perform the job in 1 week with just an orientation.  Any member who has any questions, please call the Hall.

We are running phone banks from the Union Hall this Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.  We will be phone banking for our congresswomen Louise Slaughter, who is viciously being attacked by the likes of Carl Rove, who has spent 1.4 million dollars in negative ads against Louise in recent weeks.  For those of you who’ve forgotten, Carl Rove was the architect of the Republican Party who got George Bush elected, as well as a main contributor to the great recession.  I’m asking those who can spare a couple of hours, to please help out.

Former President Bill Clinton will be appearing at the Riverside Convention Center this Friday at 3:15 pm stumping for Democratic candidates Louise Slaughter and Kathy Hochul.   Any member or retiree who can make it is invited to attend.  For more details call the office.

Thursday is a wear red day.

This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union tape, the place where we fight for the respect you deserve.
