Tape Release Thursday, August 21st 2014

The Union is calling for an official Union Activity Day for Friday, August 29th.  This year the Rochester Labor Council, at the request of the City of Rochester, has moved the Annual Labor Day Parade to Friday evening.  To be clear, the official Union Activity Day is moving from Labor Day, September 1st to Friday, August 29th in order to get participation for the parade.  Members should still take the time to enjoy Labor Day with their families.

Special notification on the parade details as we just received a change in location this evening.

Meeting time is 5:30pm

Location is Picken St. between East Ave. and Broad St. near the Inner Loop.

The Actual Parade starts at 6:30pm.

We’re working on a gathering place after the parade.  Details to follow shortly.

I’m asking each and every member to support your Union by marching in the parade.  We don’t ask for much of your time and this is a great way to get out in front of the community that we serve every day, especially since it’s a contract year.

For those who march along with their family members, we will provide discounted tickets to Seabreeze amusement park for $15/each.  The park ticket is good through Monday, September 1st.

Any changes to the above will be communicated via the tape.

This is your President John Pusloskie thanking you for calling your Union Tape, the place where we fight for the respect your deserve.

Our Garage Mechanics Bob Glynn, Sam Polizzi, and Gary Wagenhals are under new management.  Please help out your fellow Union Brothers by making it a point to get your vehicles serviced at the West Henrietta location vs. contractors.  They are more than willing to work on your vehicles.  New management has indicated that they want more of this work done in-house.

The Flavin Scholarship Winners will be announced this week.  This year we will be giving out 10 five hundred dollar scholarships, which is the most in the program’s history.  Thanks to all of our sponsors, golfers, members, and especially the retirees who’ve really supported the raffle.  On Saturday we will be giving out $1,700.00 in cash prizes, so please get your tickets that were mailed out into the Union Hall.
